An entrepreneur and founder of five successful businesses, Gary Tomlinson is well versed in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, corporate culture, strategy-driven execution management systems and effective communication skills.  From the time he worked as an operating room technician, more than 35 years ago, Gary saw the value in learning by doing as well as by teaching.

In 1975 Gary was hired away from the hospital to pioneer US Surgical Stapling Instruments to hospitals thoughout Southern Virginia.  As a successful pioneer of surgical stapling instruments, he went the extra mile for his cusomers by providing one-on-one training, in-service programs, teaching seminars and workshops.  It was during this time that Gary learned the importance of "story telling" and how critical effective communication skills are to the selling process.

In 1978, when Gary co-founded his first business, a medical equipment home care company, he put his teaching skills and love of learning to work creating a corporate culture that thrived on team work, collaborations, self-management, customer feedback, and innovative thinking – a concept that was unheard of at the time.

When Med Covers, Inc., a medical manufacturing company, was founded by Gary in 1984 his creative thinking and leadership philosophy had a profound impact on the firm and its growth.  Med Covers adopted a unique objective – “to lead and do business with the human spirit as the firm’s primary customer.”  This style allowed Med Covers to build on and value its core competencies to not only better serve their existing customers, but to also attract new customers as well.

For 22 years, Gary has been a regular lecturer at North Carolina State University in the College of Management, specifically the Entrepreneurship Educational Initiative.  In 2008 Gary began lecturing at Elon University in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.  He lectures on entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, and professional speaking education.

In 2006, Gary co-founded Women's Edge Magazine, a monthly publication for professional women.  The magazine's purpose was to be a voice for and about professional women, a vehicle for women to mentor those who are up-and-coming and a strong advocate for not only women supporting women, but for professionals supporting professionals.

Today, as a business consultant specializing in strategy execution management Gary uses his on-going education and his 35 years of experiences to help businesses work on their business so that they can work better in their business.  He works with executive leadership teams to build a culture of discipline throughout their organization.  Gary helps his clients clarify and achieve their organizational initiatives by using a dynamic execution management system called KeyneLink which is designed to close the huge gap between strategy and execution.

As a professional speaker his keynote and workshop topics include:  The "Art of Telling - Communicating Your Way to the Top," the "Top Ten Messages from Ten Top Books," the "Art of Customer Service - Earning Your Way to the Top," "Organizational Excllence - Creating a Culture of Discipline," and "Marketing to Women - Why they're not a Niche Market."

Regardless of his topic, Gary’s guiding coalition is that “the golden rule not only makes good moral sense, but it makes good business sense too.”  He believes that given the pace and nature of change in today’s business environment, the level of an organization’s resiliency is going to depend upon the resources it devotes to the development of its people.  As the rate of change increases, the willingness and ability to keep learning become central to career success for individuals and economic success for organizations.
